The symbolism in this piece is beautiful. The young woman with the sad countenance sits cutting her hair, and from the ends comes the growth of leaves. This piece was created by Roya in solidarity with the women of Iran. The powerful, gentle, message of the resistance towards restrictive ideas of femininity  (symbolised by the hair) and the rebirth of something new and empowering (the leaves) is an uplifting and heart-breaking message for the brave young women Roya supports with this piece.

NFT Weekly was created by Australian artist and writer Jasmine Lissau. Jasmine has been exploring digital art and the NFT space since its early years, creating NFT art herself while documenting the artists, ideas and communities emerging around the technology. She created NFT Weekly as a way to discover and share the work of artists working in the space. What began as a weekly publication featuring emerging digital artists has grown into an archive of a particular period in digital art history. Today, Jasmine is revisiting that archive and expanding NFT Weekly beyond its original format. Alongside artist features, she explores the history of NFTs, digital art, Web3, AI and the people and ideas that helped shape these movements. NFT Weekly is both a record of where digital art has been and an ongoing exploration of where it is going.
