NFT Weekly Archive Mar 2023

Image
Nine artists, different styles, and a shared interest in the possibilities of digital art. Originally published by NFT Weekly, this feature preserves a moment from the rapidly changing NFT landscape. Artist: Sasha Katz X Profile:  @wonderkatzi Artwork: Karabasan This piece is so elegant with its minimal colour palette and it's graceful lines. The figure is satisfyingly curvaceous while the cat melts into the black background leaving seemingly negative space where it sits on the figures shoulders. Sasha has managed to create a tactile reaction to her work as the viewer responds to the soft void cat held by those spectacular hands. The woman's skin seems smooth and alive against the dense blackness she inhabits. The drama this artwork creates, with such simplicity, is masterful. The name Karabasan (nightmare in Turkish) sums up the unnerving beauty in this image.  Artist: Thomas Hast  X Profile:  @Meta_projects Artwork: Untitled The abstract nature of this ar...

NFT Weekly Archive Feb 2023

Image
Take a look back at nine artists featured in the early years of NFT Weekly. Their work reflects the variety, curiosity and experimentation that surrounded the emerging world of NFT art. Artist: Jo Aestrild X Profile:  @aestrilds Artwork:   Chang'e The colours in this piece are the first element the viewer notices, they are both harmonious and vibrant. Jo has an amazing eye for colour, and the movement she creates, draws the viewer into her serene depiction. The small moon on the figures forehead, and the delicate flowers, gives this piece a feminine air. The woman is standing under the stars, being blown gently by a spring breeze. The sense of the wind on the skin, is a powerful, intoxicating, response created by this image. Leaving the viewer feeling happy, and somewhat ruffled, by the experience.   Artist: Diela Maharanie X Profile:  dielamaharanie Artwork:   Untitled Emotions Diela is the master of bold, exciting patterns, her experience c...

Phoenyx Rein in conversation

Image
The first thing that strikes the viewer when they see Phoenyx's work is the vibrant use of colour. The neon light effect makes his work visually very captivating. Coupled with his striking sense of composition, with the figures dominating the image in a majestic way, Phoenyx engages his experience in portrait photograph to tell his story. In the feature images, the figures represent Australian and New Zealand First Nation people. The artist portrays them in a way that speaks of their dignity and resilience in the face of discrimination and disadvantage. The pieces have a celebratory feeling to them as well as a reverential element. The viewer feels drawn to the life experiences etched into the elders faces. Phoenyx's work is compelling and evocative in a way that promotes respect and offers the viewer a sense of his subjects strengths and vulnerabilities. At the beginning of his journey in the NFT space, Phoenyx is an artist to watch and take note of.   Wha...

NFT Weekly Archive Dec 2022

Image
At a time when digital art was finding a new audience, these nine artists were developing their own creative paths. This original NFT Weekly feature records their work as it appeared at the time. Artist: Violet Bond "the dead bird lady" X Profile:   @VioletBondArt Artwork:   Skin Violet's image speaks to the viewer on many levels. The harmony of the smooth skin, against the similarly smooth bark of the eucalypt, makes a beautiful statement about our place in the environment. The tawny colour tones and the slightly darkened background draws the viewer into Violet's world. A world where beauty holds deaths hand, light and dark dance skilfully together, and the role of humanity in their environment, is questioned and ultimately found to be one and the same. The title 'Skin' sums up this image perfectly with the tree and the body melting into each other and emphasising the sacred 'oneness' so powerfully explored in Violet's work.     Artist: Elisey Z...

NFT Weekly Archive Nov 2022

Image
A snapshot from the NFT Weekly archive, featuring nine artists working across the emerging world of digital art. Their work helps tell the story of a time when the possibilities seemed almost endless. Artist: Aslan Ruby X Profile:  @aslanruby Artwork:  Birdfeeder This sumptuous piece by Sarana is a melting-pot of colour and movement. The way the strands of hair and elements of the dress move into, and across, each other, is dizzying and infinitely pleasing. The viewers eyes move from wing to ribbon, dress to abstract flower, taking a delightful journey in and out of positive and negative spaces. The image melts in a very satisfying way like the inside of a Cadbury's 'Snack' chocolate block. The viewer is left feeling oddly satisfied and nostalgic all at once.   Artist: Olena speakingtomato X Profile:   @speakingtomato Artwork:  Division of Opinions The beautiful simplicity of this image, at first glance, quickly becomes a hungry quest for d...
